The key protected wild plants refers to the endangered and rare plants grown in the natural habitat, and they have important economic, scientific, and cultural values.Hubei province is one of the provinces with the most key protected wild plants in China. At present, studies on the key protected wild plants in Hubei Province focuses on their current status and in situ conservation. There are few studies on the priority conservation and protection strategies for key protected wild plants. Therefore,it is of great significance to propose protection priorities and targeted protection measures for the protection of key wild plants in Hubei Province.with limited human, material, and financial resources.Based on previous research data, this paper combines the census results and latest research results of two key protected wild plants provided by Hubei Wildlife Protection Station in 2001 and 2017,the priority protection values of 75 key protected wild plants with detailed data were calculated using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process),and the priority protection grades for key protected wild plants in Hubei Province were classified,at the same time, this paper forward corresponding strategies for the problems that exist in our province's key protected wild plants, the main findings are as follows:(1)Based on the data of two times field surveys in 2001 and 2017,and the latest research results, our stuides showed there were 92 key protected wild plants in Hubei Province, belonged to 45 families,73 genera;Among them,6 families,15 genera and 20 species belongs to the gymnosperms;38 families,57 genera, and 70 species belongs to angiosperms;and 1 family,1 genera, and 2 species belong to the ferns.(2)The results of field surveys and literature analysis show that key protected wild plants in Hubei Province are mainly distributed in western Hubei and Southeast Hubei.Human factors are the main reasons for the endangerment of key protected wild plants;followed by themselves biological characteristics, such as low seed germination rate, low pollination rate, and so on.(3)The evaluation results of conservation priorities of key protected wild plants in Hubei Province indicate that the priority order for the protection of key protected wild plants in Hubei Province can be divided into four levels.Among them, the 9 species belong to the Class ?(rare and endangered species)key protection, such asTorreya grandis Fort.et Lindl,Sinojackia dolichocarpa C.J.Qi,and Pinus dabeshanensis Cheng et Law.There are 30 species which belong to the class ?(endangered species);such as Psilopeganum sinense Hemsl,Brasenia schreberi and Sinojackia xylocarpa Hu.30 species belong to the class ?(rare)key protection such as Davidia involucrata Baill,Phellodendron chinense Schneid and Sinowilsonia henryi. And 6 species belong to the class ? for key protection, such as Taxus wallichiana var.mairei,Magnolia officinalis Rehd.et Wils, and Gastrodia elata Bl.(4)This study suggests that the protection of key preserved wild plant in Hubei should be strengthened in the following three aspects:(1)According to the characteristics of the 75 species of key preserved wild plant, implementing targeted classification protection;(2)Protection strategy in the nature reserve:increase protection investment;strengthen the construction of "preserved wild plant" type nature reserve;and establish multi-directional protection system and monitore system for nature reserves;(3)Protection strategy outside the nature reserve:strengthen relevant laws and regulations, local regulations as soon as possible;enhance publicity dissemination and education of key preserved wild plant conservation and raise their awareness of protection.
