Abiotic stresses which include heat, chill, saline, drought and flooding, can affect plant growth, and decrease major food crop's production. One of the major way is cultivation of crop varieties with strong ability of abiotic stress. The abiotic stress resistance of plants are complex characters which related to multiple gene loci, and usually involved in multiple metabolic pathways and polygenic complex network signal. So compared with the traditional way for single gene, importing some key transcription factors will be a more effective method to increase crop resistance.MYB transcription factor is a group of large family.A part of MYB transcription factor are related with abiotic stresses, which directly or indirectly response to abiotic stress by adjusting a lot of stress related genes.Corn is the second food crops in China, that has a pivotal position in the national food security and economic development. We found MYB transcription factors about abiotic stress in previous studies and looked for candidate genes in the corn according to the conservatism of the homologous genes. At present,2 MYB transcription factors has been successfully cloned and transferred into over expression vector of plant. We have gotten the positive Arabidopsis transgenic plants by Agrobacterium infection. In order to study the function of the candidate genes, each of transgene materials was treated with different stresses. Then,we studied the gene function according for plant growth situation.ZmMYB3R-2 and ZmMYB4 could improve the germination rate of Arabidopsis seeds under salt stress(100 mM NaCl).ZmMYB3R-2 improved the drought resistance of Arabidopsis.ZmMYB4 genes played a role in plant drought resistance and cold resistance. At the same time,we constructed the ZmMYB3R-2 transient expression vector for subcellular localization study,The experimental results showed that the ZmMYB3R-2 expressed in the nucleus.
