The Study On The Changes Of Farmers' Livelihood Models In Qinba Mountains Of Gansu Province

The livelihood model means that people can choose the suitable livelihood activities according to their own livelihood capitals,they're stable strategies for people to maintain their living.These livelihood activities can help people achieve their livelihood targets.Meanwhile,the choice of livelihood activities mainly related to people's social and economic environment.In the same area,different farmer have different livelihood capitals,so their living abilities and the choice of livelihood models are also different.In the Qinba mountainous area of Gansu Province,For a long time,because of the remote location,the lack of farmland resources and the low level of economic and social degrees,farmers chose the traditional planting and breeding as their main livelihood model.With poor educational backgrounds and low self-development abilities,the farmers' livelihood model is really single and their cash income is so insufficient.After the "Wenchuan earthquake" in 2008,the reconstruction broke the farmers' livelihood model.Meanwhile,with the rapidly development of social and economic,the increasing demand of cash,farmers' traditional livelihood models have been unable to meet the fundamental needs of their daily life.More and more farmers have chosen to other livelihood models such as: go work outside and operate independently,by these methods,their livelihood channels can be widened,so as to improve their own sustainable development capabilities.This paper take wen county,kang county and xihe county as example.Based on the basis theories of sustainable livelihood analysis and livelihood model transitions,we collected lots of data through field research.We seriously analyzed the farmer's livelihood capitals and the historical transition process of the farmers' livelihood models.The study found that: Although the farmers' living standards are still different from those in other regions,but with the continuous development of social and economy,as well as the development of labor service economy and rural tourism,the farmers' livelihood choice are gradually diversified.Meanwhile the diversification of livelihood models have brought lots of positive impacts on their daily life: the great change of living environment,the villages' infrastructure and construction and transportation,the sense of farmers' consumption has been transformed.The interpersonal circle also expanding.Finally,some corresponding policies are put forward to improve the sustainability of farmers' livelihood model.
