Consumption demand has become more and more personalized and pluralistic because of the increasing consumption level and aesthetic concept.As an effective method to meet personalized demand,product customization has attracted attention from manufacturers and has been widely applied in the field of industrial design.The method adopts a customer-faced design-driven strategy in which the combination of the values of different product attributes can be generated according to different individual preferences,thereby increasing the flexibility of product design and fully catering for customers' personalization.Interactive genetic algorithm(IGA)-based product customization method,which focuses on collaborative interaction and group customer involvement,provides manufacturers with a new idea to achieve customization for its ability to quickly catch and response customers' personalized demand.For the method,however,the problem is how to further improve the efficiency of design scheme configuration process and avoid user fatigue as much as possible at the same time.Consequently,to further improve the experience and decrease the complexity of the whole product customization process,in this paper,a Kano model-improved IGA method is proposed from the view of the effective recognition and reasonable configuration of customizable product attributes.The method uses Kano model to recognize different customization attributes and rank them in order of their influences on customer satisfaction,and then dynamically adjusts these attributes for customization during the IGA-based product design process in order to accelerate the pace to find satisfying design scheme without leading to user fatigue.A computer-aided design system prototype is developed in the context of the customized design of tablet PC to testify the maneuverability and effectiveness of the proposed method.The experimental results demonstrate that the method could improve customization efficiency to the large extent and fully relieve user fatigue by expediting the process of finding customers' satisfying design individuals.The paper provides with substantial theory framework and practical method foundation for personalized design and mass customization.The achievement of this paper can be applied to real production and guide manufacturers to conduct group customer-faced product customization strategy.In the meantime,the given system prototype provides a basis for developing the computer-aided product customization system that can be used in actual production environment.
