Since China's reform and opening up,rapid progress has been witnessed in the Chinese economy and citizen income level.Meanwhile,family structure and live condition of residents in our country have undergone a vast change with the changing environment.The proportion of out-home consumption has been increasing rapidly,which will have a major impact on people's life and society.Therefore,based on the literature review,this paper carry on analysis and comparison of out-home consumption behavior and the factors of urban and rural residents.First,using the 5-year 8-province data of CHNS,this paper put forth effort to descriptive analysis and compare the out-home consumption behavior of urban and rural residents from three dimensions: eating time,eating place and way of food-making.The study shows that,in the past twenty years,great changes have taken place in residents' out-home consumption behavior.With the development of economy,increasing numbers of residents are choosing to eat outside.Specifically,urban residents double the ration of out-home eating of rural residents.Besides,the overall out-home consumption in different eating time are similar in urban and rural residents,but from the aspect of income,family structure and individual characteristic,there are significant different between urban and rural residents.Secondly,based on the theoretical model,we conduct an empirical analysis on the out-home consumption behavior of urban and rural residents using a random-effects model,and also carry on comparison of the empirical results of urban and rural residents.The study shows that,the higher family incomes,residents with less family members and male tend to eat outside more frequently.Finally,for the status quo and model analysis,this paper presents the relevant policy recommendations:(1)To high develop convenient and efficient processed food;(2)Finding out the right developing orientation of enterprises based on consumption habits of residents;(3)To enhance the adjustment and management on macro economy,and select predominant industry on the basis of residents consumption behavior and consumption regular pattern.
