| Project time management has always been an important topic in the field of engineering construction.Many scholars have proposed different mature models and processes in project time management.With the development of world economy and the progress of science and technology,the industry of research and development(R&D)of non-standard automation equipment has become more and more important in the field of engineering construction.However,this kind of projects often cannot be completed on time due to the limited resources and frequently changed customers’ requirements.Further,because domestic development of research and development of non-standard automation equipment started very late,few scholars have studied this topic.Very little knowledge and lessons can be drawn from prior research.Using the R&D projects of automation equipment at Jinan NRJ Company as a case study,this research explores the application of Critical Chain Project Management(CCPM)in the project time management in this kind of projects.CCPM is a technique of time management using network analysis.It pays attention to the resources required during the implementation of the project planning and management,and can be adjusted according to the limited resources.This research analyzes the reasons lead to project overdue in jinan NRJ Company and summarizes the existing problems.In order to improve project time management performance and production efficiency accordingly,the author applies CCPM method to time management in a specific project namely PTO project.The results of this research have both theoretical and practical implications.First,it provides theoretical basis for improving time management performance in R&D projects of automation equipment at Jinan NRJ Company,which helps this company to produce high-quality non-standard automation equipment and achieve better economic profits and its competitiveness.Second,by applying the CCPM technique to a specific project,this research verifies its effectiveness in project time management and might provide useful suggestions to other projects. |
