As the development of globalization and technology, competitions among enterprises become harsher than ever before. More and more enterprises are focusing not only on developing the technology, but also on how quick it can be transferred from labs to the market. Launching products equipped with advanced technology in the pace faster than their competitors would give them more chances to lead the trend and dominant the market. There are two keys among the entire Reserch and Development (R&D) process to accomplish the optimal result:project plan and project schedule management.The thesis research the project schedule management, import the management thought of the PM into PDM systems, resolve the difficulties of the R&D projects. The thesis learns from the classical theory of project management, research the R & D projects. The thesis uses the theory of critical chain buffer as the analysis method.Two aspects of the issue have been addressed in this paper:1. R & D Project Plan Managemen To plan the time frame well, buffer zones for stages should be set up based on critical chain - buffer zone theory and uncertainty of R&D, to ensure the flexibility and legitimacy of the plan. Meanwhile, the method and model of time frame estimation has been established based on critical chain theory.2. R&D Project Schedule ManagementTo control the process effectively, considering buffer zones for these stages, a system should be established for automatically collecting and analyzing data for various aspects of different R&D stages, providing evidence for precautions. Therefore the entire R&D process could be visualized and proper adjustments for the plan could be applied timely.The method asserted is also applied to an actual R&D project in certain enterprise, including the time frame model, collection and analysis of process data, and process delay alerts. Good results have been obtained, which provide hard evidence for the effectiveness of the method.The research results of thesis take on the meaning of practice and theory. Import the thought of critica chain into the project schedule management Advance method and progress alarming system of the project schedule. The thesis's research is an expansion of the project schedule management, provide new analysis method and solution of R & D project management practices.
