Intergenerational mobility has a great impact on the equity and vigour of the whole society. This paper mainly analyzes the multigenerational effects during three generations and discusses the transmission mechanisms by using the CFPS data.Besides, this paper describes the mobility trend of China basing on the census and CFPS data. This paper finds out that the migration of population and market-oriented process can make some explanations of the mobility trend. This paper starts form the classical model of intergenerational mobility and puts forward ten hypothesizes. From the empirical results, this paper comes to several conclusions.Firstly, there is the direct and positive effect of grandparents' occupational status on grandchildren's counterpart when controlling the parents' characteristics. The extent of grandparents' influence on offsprings is as much as the parents'.These were the case even when the endogenous problems have been solved.Secondly, the grandparents have effects on offsprings through the way of socio-emotion,human capital investment, social capital. There is also group effect among the intergenerational mobility such as groups of urban and rural.Grandparents can easily deliver their ideas to offsprings while grandparents and grandchildren are living together.Grandparents can affect grandchildren by improving the human capital investment.Grandparents can even find a job for grandchildren basing on their social contacts.Rural areas have a disadvantage on intergenerational mobility due to the insufficient infrastructure.Thirdly, the shape of mobility trend of China likes the letter “U”,meaning that the mobility has been through the process of going down and then going up.This paper also finds out that the migration of population and market-oriented process can make some explanations of the mobility trend.
