Performance management theory has experienced long-history development.How to improve performance has been an important issue for management studies.In today's performance management field,it has been agreed to establish a strategy-oriented performance management system.G is a private SME under rapid development.However,its management suffers numerous problems.In the background that economic growth slows down and the industry is faced with reform,G cannot “make money easily” any more.How to improve its management,increase competitiveness and survive and development in the crisis has been a major task in front of the company.This paper tries to discuss the construction of G's strategy-oriented performance management system to boost its competitive advantages.This paper employs the research method combining theoretical research and case study to study relevant theories of strategic management and performance management.Then,with G as the research object,it discusses the construction of strategic performance management system.This research,based on strategic management and strategic performance management theories,conducted strategic analysis of G,including external environment,the industry,competitors,value chain,SWOT analysis,etc.;then,it makes a plan of the company's strategic goals,explores the establishment of strategic performance management system and makes strategic maps,balanced scorecard at different levels,company-level,department-level and employee-level with balanced scorecard tools,finally developing a program of action;it discusses how to realize organization and coordination and construct a supporting system for strategic performance.Through analyzing G's construction of strategic performance management system,it can be known that performance management should be started with clear development strategies of the company.It is a systematic project that needs the involvement of all staffs as well as a corresponding support system.Balanced scorecard,as a tool for strategic performance management,is not just a tool,but a philosophy.In other words,performance management should be considered from the strategic perspective and multiple dimensions.
