Research On Leading Industry Selection In National New Districts

State-level New Area is an important window of development and opening of our country in the the new period,it undertake a major strategic task of national reform and development,will play the role of regional economic growth pole and promote the economic development of its surrounding areas.Different from the general administrative region,the State-level New Area is not an administrative area,but a special economic zone,its scope may be beyond the scope of the administrative region,some even across multiple administrative areas,and also different from the State-level Economic and Technology Development Zone and the National High and New Technology Industry Development Zones,State-level New Area is a comprehensive functional area,rather than a single economic functional areas.Because of the important strategic position and functional characteristics of the State-level New Areas,it is required that the selection of the leading industry in the State-level New Area is different from the other area.Based on the general theory of regional leading industry selection and the characteristics of the development of State-level New Area,we study the criteria of leading industry selection of State-level New Area,and apply these principal to analysis leading industry selection of Tianfu New Area.We do quantitative research as well as used the competitive advantage theory put forward by Professor Michael Potter to do qualitative research.It shows that Tianfu New Area should take auto industry,electronic information industry,rail transit industry,biomedicine industry as the leading industry.
