A Comparative Study On The Comprehensive Competitiveness Of The Districts And Counties In Zhaoqing City

In the 21st century,with the rapid development of economic globalization,the competition among the countries is becoming increasingly intense.The districts and counties are the microscopic reflection of national power.How to improve their comprehensive competitiveness has become the hot issues needed to be considered and solved by the national and regional governments.The study of the comprehensive competitiveness of the districts and counties has also become a hot topic for many scholars.Different from the research conducted by the majority of scholars who focus on the comprehensive competitiveness of the prefecture-level cities and city agglomeration,this paper attaches the emphasis on the research regarding the comprehensive competitiveness of the districts and counties.Since the founding of the new China,with the rapid economic development,China's county-level cities represented by the districts and counties have experienced a rapid development stage.As the basic unit of socio-economic functions,the districts and counties play a very important role in China's social and economic development.It can be said that the development of the districts and counties concerns the regional and even the whole country' s overall competitiveness.In this paper,the districts and counties in Zhaoqing City,Guangdong Province were chosen as the research object.Since December 2008,Zhaoqing has become one of nine cities in Pearl River Delta for the first time,which was brought into the "reform and development outline in Pearl River Delta(2008-2020)",and faced with the new development opportunities.The improvement of the comprehensive competitiveness of the counties and districts is the key to complete the various tasks in the"outline",and catch up with the advanced areas in Pearl River Delta.In this paper,the methods of materials retrieval,data collection,and the combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis were used to propose the definition of the self-defined comprehensive competitiveness of districts and counties through the research achievements of domestic and foreign experts and scholars.Besides,based on the selection criteria of the comprehensive competitiveness evaluation indices and the current situation of the Zhaoqing City,the indices system of the districts and counties comprehensive competitiveness evaluation was constructed.The comprehensive competitiveness evaluation model of the cities was established according to the data obtained by using the factor analysis method and the SPSS software to conduct the analysis on the 20 sample districts and counties in Zhaoqing,Foshan and Jiangmen from 2010 to 2014,and obtain the scores of the comprehensive competitiveness of the districts and counties and the various common factors.The comparative analysis of the comprehensive competitiveness of the districts and counties in Zhaoping was conducted from the perspective of inter-region and intra-region.according to the results of the comparative analysis,It is concluded that there are two problems in Zhaoqing county area,such as the huge gap between regions and the improvement of people's livelihood and the speed of economic development.Finally,the Put forward the policy recommendations to enhance the comprehensive competitiveness.
