Along with the development of economic globalization,China's oil refineries are gradually promoting their involvement in the international market,and facing the competition from other Tier 1 global companies of the same industry.China's refineries have to optimize their production and operations in order to be ?bigger and stronger?.The 3 main elements which impact the optimization of refineries' production and operations are: crude oil,manufacturing process and products which are relative to raw material cost,processing cost and sales revenue.Therefore,to optimize these 3 parts is the real hardcore,and the application of optimization technology will bring great help and guidance to refineries to make them more competitive.PIMS,the liner programming software developped by ASPEN Tech,with its remarkable features: full range,full process and simulation,is widely used in the production process of global petrochemical industry for planning and scheduling.But there is lack of model application researches on the full-process optimization which take economic benefits for central,including crude oil selection,product optimization,plant revamping,and so on.By adopting the combination of theoretical research and actual cases study,this dissertation focuses on modeling,simulation and further optimization on production and operating activities of refineries.By taking refinery A as example,the dissertation sets up the PIMS model and simulates the full process of production and operations.Simultaneously,the dissertation chooses the representative demands of different refineries' optimization,including crude oil selection,production,products and plant revamping,as the cases to study the PIMS' deep application of the optimization based on different factors and different situation.Through the study on these cases,to point to an area,the dissertation hopes to expand the PIMS' deep application of optimization.Through the modeling,the simulation and the study of application cases,the dissertation sets up the model which is corresponding to the full process of production and operations in refinery A,and,the error rate of the composite merchahandise yield is less than 0.2% between model and actual data.As to the further application of PIMS model in this dissertation,it is not restricted to simulation,planning and scheduling in production process,but extended to more aspects' application of the optimization on production and operations: Firstly,refinery B reduces 0.2% loss and refinery C achieves break-even with the applitation of PIMS to optimize crude selection and processing load.Secondly,refinery D reduces 0.9% loss and refinery E's profit rises 0.7% by using PIMS to optimize the operation scheme and operating severity of the secondary processing units.Thirdly,refinery F achieves the reasonable arrangement of its naphtha flow with using the PIMS to optimize the products.Finally,in order to improve product quality,the dissertation calculates and optimizes the scheme of unit transformation and upgrading by PIMS model.If the optimized scheme was executed,that the sulfur content of gas oil will be controlled within the limits of standards,the Cetane number will be increased by 4 units.
