As the development of science enters the era of big science, more interests, rights, and media are involved in scientific research. Many conflicts in ethics and interests emerge for the scientific community, leading to some problems in scientific research. For instance, recently scientific misconduct has attracted wide attention from the whole society.Scientific misconduct is often defined as fabrication, falsification and plagiarism(FFP),this definition however does not cover all the unethical scientific research practices.Although some research practices may be much less severe than FFP,they exist in a much wider range than FFP.We call these research practices questionable research practice(QRP).QRP mainly means that in order to get significant results,or achieve a p value lower than.05,scientists manipulate their data by omitting part of the data or by using illegitimate data analysis strategies. This thesis discusses the current stage of QRP,analyzes the reason of QRP's occurrence, and the influence QRP have on science and the scientific community. The related statistic issues and the problem of publication bias are also discussed. In the end,I propose and discuss several solutions to QRP and evaluate QRP with a case study. In terms of methodology, the literature analysis, comparative analysis, attribution analysis and case studies are used. The innovative contribution of current thesis aims to shed more light on QRP,a grey area in scientific research, and discuss both technical and organizational solutions to this wide-ranging problem, also giving a different perspective abut QRP's definition.
