Evaluation Of Land Capability In Xiangtan City

Land is vital to peoples livelihood,and it is also the foundation of the country's development.The land is a limited and non-renewable resouces.The capability of land,use properly or not,are related to the stability of the country and people's happiness. Although China is a big country of land, with a vast area of land, next only to Russia and Canada,as the third largest country in the world, but Chinese people will be less, and we are lack of land resources, per capita amount of land is only about 30% of the world's level. This harsh reality makes the rational use of land is particularly important. The contradiction of population, resources and environment of China have been relatively sharp,irrational use of land exacerbate the intensification of the contradictions. How to make rational use of land, to alleviating the supply of land, become the first problem to be solved, and land capability evaluation can provide a theoretical basis to solve the contradiction.This paper refers to the domestic and foreign system of land capability evaluation, try to use the Delphi method to construct a land capability system of Xiangtan city,selected nine index such as the soil type, parent rock, slope, elevation, soil erosion, organic matter content, pH value, sunshine duration and precipitation.and through the expert scoring method to determine the index weights and the value of each grade. We can make the overlay analysis and the land capability classification map by using ARCGIS 10.2.2.The land capability classification map of Xiangtan city was analyzed and evaluated, and put forward reasonable suggestions to the land use of Xiangtan city.The results show that the capability evaluation of land resources in Xiangtan city can be roughly divided into six grades, arrange in order from good to bad respectively with Roman numerals ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, the land use restriction also ascending. Through the analysis of Xiangtan City Land Capability Evaluation and classification map, combined with the specific situation in land use of Xiangtan city, proposed scientific and reasonable suggestions to solve soil erosion problems and to improve the acid and alkaline soil and make comprehensive utilization of land in Xiangtan City.
