Gas meter is a measuring instrument for gas measuring and trading. It is very important for rational allocation and utilization of gas resources to keep our nation flourishing and our people enjoying in good jobs and lives. However, the gas meter manufacturers face difficult now, and China Gas Metering industry is also a risk. Only the manufacturers developing and implementing their scientific and rational product development strategy constantly, it may reverse this situation. Therefore, the research on the product development problem and measurement of gas meter factory is of great significance!In this paper, based on the development of gas measurement industry in China and the author's working experience, combined analysis methods:Michael Porter's Five Forces Mode, SWOT model, vertical and horizontal comparison, Data, chart, etc. At first, the product developing trends status and causes is researched. Think:The real cause is lack of long-term product development strategy, and its product development is blind and passive. With the use of Potter's five forces model, SWOT model and other tools, environmental product development strategy of gas meter, industry situation, and competition situation was analyzed in detail. Through evaluation and comparison, three product development strategies were selected:cost leadership strategy, focus strategy, and differential strategy. The implementation plan was developed, mapping out:the implementation stage arrangement, personnel placement, verify the effect of the implementation measures, the implementation of obstacles and Solutions, the implementation measures. And the suggestions and Prospects about the products development of DL gas meter business were made finally.Nowadays, it is very important that Scientific and rational planning and management for the survival and development of enterprises to be made. Enterprise product competition has evolved into the product development strategy of competition. In this era background, it must grasp the development opportunities, establish and carry out a scientific and reasonable product development strategy, give full play to their own advantages, and the product development will have to stand at the forefront of the industry of gas metering.The analysis and research of this paper has important guiding role to the gas meter Business Unit in DL company for product development. At the same time, it has positive reference significance to product development for China Gas Metering industry and other gas meter manufacturers. In addition, the author's unique perspective of observation and writing is very useful for researching China Gas Metering industry and gas meter manufacturers, understanding the current state-owned enterprises.
