Under the dual pressures of urbanization and motorized process,the problem of urban traffic congestion is becoming more and more serious.Meanwhile,with the characteristics of large capacity,low pollution,high speed and low energy consumption,the urban rail transit has become an integral part of solving traffic problems and promoting the development of transportation.As the first city to build the subway in China,Beijing rail transit has developed rapidly,up to now,the size of the subway in Beijing has surpassed New York,Paris,Tokyo,London and other international cities.However,the rapid development also brings a series of problems,such as the complexity of passenger demand,transfer problems prominent and rail transportation services face higher challenges;in addition,rail transit has the characteristics of high cost and strong specificity,if the planning is unreasonable,it will bring greater financial burden to the city;so it is very important to evaluate the efficiency in the process of scale expansion.In this paper,we take the efficiency as the cut-in point,to evaluate the running status of the Beijing urban rail transit from 1998 to 2015,explore the factors that affect the operational efficiency of rail transit,and put forward relevant policy recommendations,so as to provide a reference for how to improve the operation efficiency of Beijing rail transit in the future.Firstly,based on the production frontier theory and urban rail transit system and its technical and economic characteristics,this paper defined the connotation of operation efficiency of rail transit with the definition of efficiency,and then through combing domestic and foreign literature,laid the theoretical foundation for the paper's methods,indexes and research perspective.Secondly,this paper introduced the development status of urban rail transit in Beijing and foreign typical city,and the transverse comparison analysis results shows that Beijing rail transit in the mode of development,station settings and rail transport sharing rate had significant difference with foreign typical city.Finally,this paper constructed the rail transit operation efficiency evaluation index system from the angle of input-output,evaluated the operation efficiency of Beijing rail transit from 1998 to 2015 by using the data envelopment analysis method,and identified the key influencing factors of the operation efficiency of Beijing rail transit.The empirical results show that only the year of 1998-1999,2006,2008,2011 and 2013 is Beijing rail transit operation relatively effective,the rest of the 12 years are invalid,its resources have different degree of redundancy and the existing output also has the space to upgrade.The main factors caused invalid are the operating mileage of rail transit and the resource utilization rate of station is not high and capacity is not full play.
