Research On The Relationship Between Energy Performance Contracting Project Business Model Selection And Project Performance

Energy Performance Contracting,as a market energy saving mechanism,pay the whole project’s cost with the energy savings during the contract period.In fact,Energy Performance Contracting Project Business Model identifies the energy savings allocation scheme and the role of Energy Service Company and client.It has significant effect on energy e fficiency,defining the function,responsibility,and risk sharing.Scholars point out that the selection of Energy Performance Contracting Project Business Model has positive or negative influence on project performance.However,studies in this field cannot clearly explain how EPCPBM selection impacts EPC Project performance.Based on this,this thesis regard EPCPBM’s selection as a decision making process.It determines the EPC Project performance and would be affected by multiple factors.This thesis establish the relationship path between EPCPBM selection factors and EPC BM selection process as well as the relationship path between EPCBM selection process and EPC Project performance.Then,the degree of influence relationship between EPCBM selection and EPC Project performance is discussed.On the basis of this,Structural Equation Modeling(SEM)method is used to analyze the research data from 116 employees in 20 ESCos’ EPC Projects.Results in this thesis show that on the one hand,project capacity factor,project communication factor,project environment factor have direct positive impacts on selection analysis orientation;project communication factor has direct positive impact on selection opportunity determination.Project property factor produces positive impact on conflict level,while project communication factor has adverse effect.Then,it explains how EPCPBM selection factors impact EPCBM selection process.On the other hand,EPCPBM selection analysis orientation and selection opportunity determination both have direct impacts on EPC Project’s performance.Meanwhile,results verify that EPCPBM selection factors produce indirect impacts on EPC Project performance through EPC BM selection process.Project communication factor produces more impacts on EPC Project performance through selection analysis orientation than selection opportunity determination.Then,it explains how EPCPBM selection impacts EPC Project performance.Policy recommendatio ns are proposed in this thesis.For the sake of decreasing the project efficiency loss caused by differences and disputes,EPC Project stakeholders should pay more attention to the willingness and effectiveness in communication as well as the identification for communication during the EPCPBM selection analysis orientation process.
