In such a hard situation, the precise positioning and proper developing strategy turns out to be very important for ports to survive.This paper teased out the strength; weakness; opportunity and threat of port of Dongshan, through introducing the basic situation of the port and the current logistics developing situation and problems, analyzing the national macroscopic policy Dongshan port is facing, analyzing the trade tendency by using Five-Force Model of Porter, and analyzing the interior condition by using resource capacity analysis model. Its strengthes lies in: First, Predominant natural conditions; Second, National level wood quarantine treatment area will soon be put into effect; Third, Dominant trademark advantage; Fourth, High-efficiency ability of production and organization; Fifth, Strategic cooperation with suppliers of loading and unloading; Sixth, Deeply rooted enterprise culture. Its weaknesses lies in: First, The craftsmanship needs further optimization; Second, The base facility needs to be enhanced; Third, The gap between key human resources plan and strategic development requirement; Fourth, Informationization level needs to be improved. Its opportunities lies in: First, The long-term national economic situation goes well; Second, Wood business looks increasing in long-term; Third, Local policy support the development of wood business; Fourth, Lanshan District takes the initial shaping of wood business scale effect; Fifth, The founding of Putian chamber of commerce attracts more traders. Its threats lies in: First, The costing of suppliers of loading and unloading is hard to control; Second, The new Zhewang zone of port of Lianyungang and port of Lanqiao form the immediate threat; Third, Homogenization of nearby ports suppliers of loading and unloading aggravate the competition. The phenomenon of client swifting ports is increasing. Based on the above content, this paper set up the Dongshan ports development strategy through "SWOT" analysis. The author think the wood logistics of port of Dongshan should choose turning-type strategy. After confirming the strategy positioning and strategy aims of port of Dongshan, this paper planned 8 functions for strategy practice and formed corresponding annual action program and resource allocation plan.
