Infrared imaging has a very wide range of applications in both military and civilian areas. In the existing infrared imaging system, the non-refrigeration infrared detector has the main position because of the advantage of the small size and low power consumption. But the non-refrigeration infrared detector has the non-uniformity problem, and easy to be effected by the environment.Traditional infrared imaging system is difficult to achieve a complex image processing algorithm,so the image quality and application scope is not satisfactory. This paper presents a new architecture for IR imaging system.Based on the architecture,an infrared imaging system can be built easily and quickly. This architecture not only speeds up the development of infrared system, but also can achieve a more complex algorithm. The first chapter of this paper mainly introduces the development of infrared imaging technology and several different architectures of infrared imaging system. The second chapter gives a brief description of the three important components of the new architecture,Qsys platform,Avalon bus and Nios processor. The third chapter introduces the specification and use of Avalon-MM and Avalon-ST bus in detail. On the basis of the above content, the fourth chapter describes in detail how to realize algorithm modules of infrared imaging system in the new framework. In addition to the general format conversion and PAL display module, the image processing algorithm for improving the quality of infrared image is studied in this paper. The improved histogram algorithm and improved image background compensation algorithm are proposed. After the theoretical derivation of these algorithms, these algorithms have been implemented in the new architecture of infrared imaging system with the form of IP cores. The fifth chapter describes the implementing of new infrared system architecture on the hardware platform. With a smaller volume and power consumption,a very good imaging quality is achieved. And the development cycle of the whole project can be greatly reduced.
