The family is the cell of the society, children are seeds that keep the family life continue, and have especially importance to family in the modern life. Children's development is a change process from never mature to mature, due to the lack of judgement and protection in this stage, there often with hidden troubles, which need social worker's intervention and take preventive measures to improve it. Picture books both have words and pictures, which can breakthrough the limitation of children's written deficiency, and stimulate children's interest in reading.By the way, reading picture books and taking part in other derivative activities promote children in language learning, expression, creativity,social contact and cognitive development, in order to achieve the purpose of the parent-child interaction, peer coaching, and participate jointly. Based on the actual situation in Nanjing A community and the current situation of the development of early school-age children, the author adopts field research, fully assessing the needs of the service object by interviewing and questionnaire. As result, we select reading group model as the breakthrough point in this activities, design and implement the "colorful life workshop" project. This paper takes the project as the research object, the picture books reading as the theme, it try to meet all the demands in children's development, and help they master reading skills, improve the parent-child relationship and establish the peer relationship network by means of the picture books reading,sharing, adaptation and rehearsal activities, finally realize the all-round development of children.At the same time, in this paper, the specific process of the whole project activities and service effect were evaluated and reflection, In the analysis, we can fund that school-age children and their families in the current urban community have three common demand, including the children's diversified development, the relationship between parent and their children, and the peer group's relational network. While reading group model can promote exchanges and cooperation, understanding and interaction among children, parents and peer groups by the establishment of learning platform, it have some unique advantages in responding and meeting the demand of children's development,facilitating children's positive promotion.
