Through questionnaire and interviews, the research investigated the current situation of Children's picture books reading in several primary schools and kindergartens in Hangzhou. The purpose of this research are as follows:the current situation of teachers' understanding of picture books and picture book reading; realization of the problems of picture books instruction; comparison between different teachers' understanding and practice of picture books and picture book reading, comparison of kindergarten teachers' and primary school teachers' understanding and practice of picture books and picture book reading, the discussion in the strategies of according.The research objects fall on selective 173 teachers are chosen from 6 kindergartens and 6 elementary schools in Hangzhou. The investigation instrument is "Questionnaire on the current situation of picture book reading instruction"; while the data from this questionnaire will be analyzed by some statistical methods such as One-way-ANOV. We choose 20 kindergarten teachers and then interview with them, also analyze 4 picture book reading instruction.According to the research result, it shows that:First, almost everyone likes picture books for the rich values .Second, teachers'understanding of picture books and picture book reading is not deeply. Third, there are some differences between different background teachers.Fourth, the ability of using picture books should be enhanced. Namely the ability in choosing picture books, discovering the values and the themes in picture books.In view of the current situation, the paper puts forward some strategies in order to improving teachers' understanding and ability in picture book reading instruction. |
