Language is a key factor that allows human to communicate.Today,another language,not less important than English,is Chinese.During the past years,China has drastically been developing in many dimensions especially its economics.Many countries saw the value of collaborating with China and the importance of Chinese as a mean of communication.In Thai context,Chinese language has played a vital role in Thai life.Trade,tourism,or even a recent collaborative projectsigned between Thailand and Chinato build a high-speed railwayall essentially require Chinese in communication.Consequently,the number of Chinese learners is currently going upward.The Ministry of Education offers Chinese language education curriculum starting from elementary level and it is inevitable to admit that an effective learning depends on the choice of textbook.The purpose of this thesis was to conduct a dialogue and vocabulary analysis regarding the book titled "Embracing Chinese Language"(or Sampaspasa Jean for literal spell-out),Thai edition(higher secondary level edition 1-6).Higher secondary students from Matthayom 4-6 of Rayongwittayakom School were the sample in this study.The dialogue and vocabulary analysis of the book titled "Embracing Chinese Language",Thai edition was conducted to determine whether it fulfills the needs of the higher secondary school students of Rayongwittayakom School.This thesis designed two research documents for Chinese language teachers and students.The questionnaire used on students comprised of 4parts.The first part was to discover background information of the respondent.The second part aimed to find out how interested the higher secondary school students were towardthe book titled "Embracing Chinese Language’’,Thai edition.The third part attempted to identify which dialogues in the book titled "Embracing Chinese Language",Thai edition,or what everyday conversation,the higher secondary students liked.The scoring was designed in 5-point scale.The fourth part of the questionnaire investigated and gathered a list of vocabularies that higher secondary students had never learned before which also does not exist in the book titled "Embracing Chinese Language",Thai edition however,students would frequently be using them in daily life.The questionnaire used on teachers comprised of 2 parts.The first part was to discover background information of the respondent.The second part aimed to enquire if the teachers encountered any problem in teaching while using the book titled "Embracing Chinese Language",Thai edition.This thesis selected students in Rayong Province as the research sample.The study aimed to investigate whether dialogues and vocabularies in the book titled"Embracing Chinese Language",Thai edition(higher secondary level edition 1-6)could meet the needs of the higher secondary school students of Rayongwittayakom School.How suitable the objectives of this bookwere to the students of RayongPronvince?And when the students demonstrated their interests in studying content outside the book,how did the teacher respond and what measures did the teacher take to meet the students’ needs?This study aimed to improve the quality of Chinese language education in Rayong province so that Rayong students could obtain appropriate set of knowledgesusable in practicality.
