Life sciences course in secondary school is a basic course which is based on the characteristics of life science disciplines,which can make students gain scientific literacy.It is an important part of the natural science learning field.The practical activities combine the special functions of experiment and practice,which is in line with the characteristics of life science and has a unique advantage in improving students’ life science literacy."Life science" teaching materials "activity garden" column is a very good platform.Students can gain knowledge through personal experience and learn from the scientific methods to develop a scientific learning habit.However,the existing teaching materials in the " activity garden " column content is mostly selected content.The distribution of these materials in the teaching materials is not balanced,some content and curriculum knowledge points are not closely related,some of the content involves a large span of knowledge,some columns are theoretical exercises.All of these have affected that the "activity garden" column doesn’t play its due role in the life science teaching.Therefore,the author studied the junior middle school students’ feedback on life science textbooks activity garden column content through the questionnaire.The survey found that the students have a lower rate of interest rate and completion rate of the existing activity garden column content,but they have a positive attitude towards the validity of the setting of the activity garden.In depth analysis of the students’ favorite activities,the author found that students are interested in the production of food,exploring the self,and observing the nature of the activities.The study also found that: the lower the level of knowledge and practical skills level of content,students’ completion rates higher.On the basis of above,the author made a systematic framework for the contents of "activity garden" column in the textbook of life science in junior middle school.Based on students,the author will improve and complement the existing teaching material to make the content of the activity garden from theory to practice and to stick to students’ actual life.On the other side,the author will pay attention to evaluation and finally draw up the school-based teaching materials “life science activities”,which conducive to the cultivation of junior high school students’ scientific literacy.The expansion class of school,is an important carrier to establish school-based courses “ life sciences activities”.We try our best to do the teaching practice of the content of the school-based teaching materials with the activities of three sections,including health and I,nature and I,and the society and I.Following the students’ feedback,we find out that: 1.The garden which close to the activities of students living is easy to get the students love.2.The garden whose content requests a lower level of ability is easily accomplished.3.Group cooperation is beneficial to teaching activities.4.Multi dimensional display and evaluation of students can improve the quality of life science of students.To sum up to improve and adjust the school-based curriculum “life science activities”,which really can bring students life science knowledge in the activities,improve skills of problem solving and form the consciousness of life science in order to improve the scientific literacy. |
