As China has modernized and developed socially,the parents in small cities have migrated to the big cities,leaving their children in the hometown,without direct supervision and assistance of their parents.These situations create the "left-behind students" and the problems of left-behind students.The studies of left-behind students are focusing on rural areas.The left-behind students in the cities are lack of enough attentions.More and more city left-behind students are appearing in our life,we should swiftly pay more attentions to them.The focus of the research is about city left-behind junior middle school students.The city left-behind students come from Wanzhou Foreign Language School.The research focuses on:the current situation of these students ’ English study,their family situation,their parents ’attention degree and English education environment of their school.The research reveals the reality of the city left-behind students’ learning environment and conditions:1.The current situation of city left-behind students’ English study is poor;2.The city left-behind students are lack of their parents’ supervision,their family’ s education is poor;3.The schools lack enough teaching equipment.The analysis and research suggests that there is numerous reasons for the city’ s left behind students:1.The city left-behind students’interests of English study is low and they lack of confidence;2.The city left-behind students can’ t receive scientific family education;3.The schools are unable to function as an leading educational role;4.The public doesn’ t pay enough attention to the city left-behind children.Some suggestions are presented to rectify the problems of city left-behind students’ English study:1.Make the parents aware of the importance of their child’ s education and make them contact with their children more frequently;2.Make the English teachers pay more attentions to the city left-behind students’ study and life,and give them more assistance;3.Enforce the school to play the leading role in the English education;4.Improve the city left-behind students’ interest in studying English and help them to cultivate a good English study habit.5.Guide the public to give more assistance to the city left-behind students.This research can provide some measures to solve the problems and it also hopes to make the public more aware of the city left-behind students’.
