Reading plays an important role in the growth of students.In high school history teaching,improving students' reading ability is directly related to the expansion of students' knowledge as well as the improvement of their ability.Meanwhile,it is also vital to their future life.In this paper,the author conducted a systematic survey and verified the feasibility of the proposed problems and solutions based on the long-term teaching practice.In the process of the research,the reading theory and the cognitive theory of psychology are adopted as theoretical basis of research.The introduction part mainly tells the reasons why the author does the research and summarizes the current situation of domestic and international reading research.In the first chapter,the concept between reading and reading ability is defined.Meanwhile,the significance of reading is also stated.The second chapter analyses the current situation of the students' reading and the reasons why they meet with obstacles while reading.The third chapter states the methods of cultivating students' reading ability.The fourth chapter mainly emphasizes the principles of cultivating students' reading ability.The fifth chapter lists other factors affecting students' reading.Through the research of students reading ability in history teaching,the author hopes it will play a guiding role in the history teaching and learning.
