In today’s world population explosion, shortage of resources, environm ental degradation, cultural loss, global problem s such as unbalanced developm ent prospects for the world in the future put forward severe challenges. How to coordinate the relationship between man and the land and the area and prom ote the developm ent of relationship between the sustainable development of the area, to becom e the world’s countries generally face the issue. Sustainable development, the consciousness of sustainable de velopment must be rooted in citizen’ s inner cultivation. Cultivate people’s activities, education is the purpose of cultivating the sustain able development of the citizen conscio usness and ability, education has irre placeable function and responsibility. The sustainable development education arises at the historic moment.Geography is the knowledge on the earth and its features, residents, and phenom enon. Always focus on the people rela tions and regional issues, in this paper and s olve in th e development of population, resources, environm ent and plays an im portant role. Com pulsory education junior middle school geography curriculum standard and the sustainable development of high education goals fit; The m iddle school geography curriculum according to the differen t spatial scales, divided into the earth, the worl d and China, local regional geographic hierarchy, which contains rich sustainable developm ent education content; In com bination with China’s national conditions, the sustainable developm ent strategy is a long-term persistent development strategy; Moreover, forming the critical period of middle school students are in values. Therefore, in the middle school geography discipline educati on is imperative to carry out the sustainable development, and to explore the sustainable development of a set of effective education teaching mode will greatly promote the smooth implementation of sustainable development education.This article is divided into five m ost. The first part is introduc tion, mainly introduced the paper selected topic background, re search status at hom e and abroad, the research purpose and method. The second part has carried on the definition of related c oncepts, and gives the junior high school geography teaching in the educatio n teaching model to explore the th eoretical basis of sustainable development, in cluding two aspects of geogra phy theory and pedagogy theory. The third part of sustainable developm ent education in teaching junior high school geography teaching mode advantage are expounded. The fourth part elaborated in the junio r middle school geography education for sustain able development of five kinds of teaching m odes, respectively is the population view teaching m ode, teaching mode, outlook environ ment view of teaching mode, teaching mode, cultural viewpoint deve lopment teaching m ode. Each teaching m ode including teaching aim, theoretical basis, teaching procedures, support system, implementation advice, teaching case six parts. The fifth part is conclusion and prospect.American educators Harvey daniels, puts forward the concept of "integrated unit", he points out that to help teachers design and use of the me, interdisciplinary projects to promote learning. Inspired by this, I will(o ’ clock) sustainable development education in junior m iddle school geography teaching material contents according to population, resources, environment, culture and the development of integrate five projects, and a feasible teaching mode for the design of each project. This is the innovation of this thesis mainly However, this paper puts f orward five kinds of teaching m odes at present has not been widely practical inspection, or have some shortcomings, for the d eficiency of this p aper. By writing this thes is, the au thor hopes to integrated, systematic knowledge as the carrier, by means of corresponding teaching mode, make the student learning through a pr eliminary understanding of the fundamentals of geographical knowledge, be fa miliar with basic s kills, geographical form of sustainable develop ment. And expect these teaching mode in the process of implementation of withstand test, and optimize the development continuously. Better service in the sustainable development education of junior middle school geography discipline, or even other disciplines and other le vels of education for sustainable development.
