Learning local geography contributes to the implementation of the education con cepts of "Learning helpful geography knowledge for everyday life" and "Learning hel pful geography knowledge for lifelong development".In Cantonese area,though there are some local teaching materials like "Guangzhou geography",the coverage of Guan gfu culture and geography in middle school is still insufficient and leaves room for po tential improvement.In view of above reasons,this thesis focuses on the exploitation and application of Cantonese culture and geography,and on how to integrate them to middle school geography education.Based on Terry G.Jordan-Bychkov' s five major c ultural geography thesis,this research builds up principles like Practicality,Operationa lity,Effectiveness and Development for local geography education.and dives into avai lable Cantonese cultural geography resouce and finally integrate them into the Chines e geography middle school education.A list about relevant resouce is summarized in t he latter part of this thesis.This thesis contributes to the enrichment and the perfection of the teaching resource of the Cantonese cultural geography.It also helps students gr ow their interest in learning geography,stirs their emotions of loving their hometown a nd eventually promotes their full scale development.It can also serves as a reference f or middle school teachers.Conclusions:This research builds up principles like Practicality,Operationality,Effectiveness a nd Development for local geography education.On the basis of the principle of the five major themes of cultural geography,to build the local cultural geography curriculum structure from the regional culture,cultural diffusion,five aspects of the ecological and cultural integration and cultural landscape of the development of curriculum resources.This thesis contributes to the enrichment and the perfection of the teaching resou rce of the Cantonese cultural geography.A list about relevant resouce is summarized i n the latter part of this thesis.This thesis establishes the connection between the Cantonese Cultural geography teaching resource and the middle school geography curriculum,which is further strengthened by our classroom practice.
