In the age of globalization,English has become the communication bridge between China and the countries in the world.College students have applied abilities,look at things critically,which could not only improve the quality of themselves,but increase the understanding between China and the world.As a result,college English curriculum is playing a significant role in the higher education.However,our English curriculum,which has been influenced by the mode of professional education,has emphasized on the language skills.Although some universities in our country have accepted general education as their educational philosophy,and it is articulated in College English teaching guide that college English curriculum is a part of the higher education.It is not only instrumental but humanistic.The problem is how to incorporate English curriculum and the general education,which can play the role of humanistic.In order to answer the question,the research expounds the definition of the general education and analyze the college foreign language curriculum in general education in the world with the case analysis method and comparative research method in order to explore the reform approaches of college English curriculum in the future.
