Research On Improper Pause In English-Chinese Simultaneous Interpretation

With the development of globalization,China's comprehensive national strength is growing continuously.In order to realize cooperation and common development,China has more and more exchanges with other countries in the world.Under such condition,interpreters are playing a vital role in all fields.The fluency of interpretation is undoubtedly an important dimension to verify the quality of interpreters.The pause is the most intuitive reflection of the fluency assessment.In the process of interpretation,any improper pauses will affect communication,and interpreters may even fail to fulfill the SI task.The improper pauses in simultaneous interpretation are characterized by audible pauses,silent pauses and utterance interruptions.Using Microsoft briefing conference at E3 2017 Games Show as source,and taking the writer's own practice as an example,the main focus of this thesis is to analyze improper pauses and its classification.And on this basis,the writer tries to raise coping strategies to provide references for interpretation leaners to solve problems and finish SI tasks better.
