Research On The Topic Outside The Field In "Yangyang Miscellaneous"

<You-yang-za-zu> writed by Duan Chengshi is a quite distinctive in the existing literary sketches of Tang Dynasty. The content is not only substantial but also miscellaneous, covering history, psychology, Buddhism and Taoism, architecture,research, animal science, plant science and other aspects, in which the abroad subject matter occupy a larger proportion. This paper will focus on the contents relating to the overseas recorded by <You-yang-za-zu>, and through the research of the abroad subject matter, this paper will spread out the cultural exchanges between the Tang Dynasty and abroad , find out the interest of the notes in Tang Dynasty and analysis the author's creation tendency, at the same time to highlight the literature value of the abroad subject matter of the book.This paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter aims to systematically sort the content relating to the overseas, and shows the author's special interest in the abroad subject matter from four figures, the extraterrestrial stories, customs, exotic goods,and the image of the barbarian. The second chapter intends to trace the abroad subject matter in <You-yang-za-zu>, and sort out the origin of the abroad subject matter and reveal its literature value. The third chapter intends to explore the meanings of writing overseas contents , from which to find out the religious beliefs of the Tang people and highlight the regional characteristics of the Tang Dynasty's foreign exchange.The fourth chapter, on the basis of the research on the abroad subject matter of <You-yang-za-zu>, this paper deeply explores the reflection of cultural exchanges in other Tang writers' books, so as to know the different minds of Tang people on abroad subject matter, and highlight the difference between<You-yang-za-zu> and other literary sketches of Tang Dynasty. In the last chapter,this paper analyzes the narrative characteristics of <You-yang-za-zu>,and presents the narrative way that compromises the novel narration and historical narration, at the same time to present the narrative tendency involving strange things.
