| In order to investigate whether there was a deficiency of behavioral inhibition in high procrastinators, and whether negative emotions increased the undesirable effects on it, this study was a 2 (types of subject: high and low)×2 (types of emotion priming: positive and negative) between-subject experimental design. The error rate in the stop signal task was the statistical indicator of dependent variable. GPS as a scale used for screening subjects, and the top 15% of the subjects were in the high group and the final 15% were in the low group, each group had 60 subjects to participate in formal experiment. Through experiment and data analysis, this study drew the following main results:1.The main effect of types of subject was significant. The difference of error rate in the stop signal task was significant between high procrastinators and low procrastinators, compared with low procrastinators, error rate in high procrastinators was higher.2.The main effect of types of emotion was significant. The difference of error rate in the stop signal task was significant between positive group and negative group, compared with positive group, error rate in negative group was higher.3.The interaction effect of types of subject and types of emotion was significant.Compared with positive emotion priming group, error rate in the stop signal task was increasing both in high and low procrastinators under negative emotion priming, and the error rate in high procrastinators was higher than low procrastinators .Conclusions:1.The difference is significant in the behavioral inhibition ability between high procrastinators and low procrastinators, compared with low procrastinators, high procrastinators show lower level of behavioral inhibition.2.Emotions have an impact on behavioral inhibition ability. Positive emotions can promote the behavioral inhibition, and negative emotions can impair the behavioral inhibition.3.Emotions have an impact on behavioral inhibition ability for high procrastinators and low procrastinators, compared with low procrastinators, It is more obvious in high procrastinators that negative emotions can impair the behavioral inhibition. |
