The Scholars is a long novel authored Wu Jingzi during the Qing Dynasty.The book was regarded as most sarcastic novel by Luxun because it held justice for scholars and sarcase group of the scholars and point out the conflict between scholars and the Imperial Examination System.It analyzed particularly display the scholars shown under the influence of the Imperial Examination System,which studied the people who are scholars in The Scholars and it has the background of the Imperial Examination System during the Ming and Qing Dynasty.This book is mainly divided into five parts:The first part is introduction.To begin with,the author defined the scholar,which pointed the meaning of studying The Scholars by the Imperial Examination System.Secondly,it made sense to current status about the topic,and it point out further significance of studying the book.Finally,it explained the research method about this novel.The second part analyzed two aspect: development and change of the Imperial Examination System,the class of scholars and traditional culture so that we can understand its causes and results,consider the great change of them.The third part mainly from the perspective of the author,the family,the experience of the imperial examination of Wu Jingzi,the creation motive about The Scholars and Wu Jingzi's characters in the book have been made detailed discussion.On the one hand,it can illustrate the profound influence of the Imperial Examination System to Wu Jingzi?On the other hand,it can contribute to a better understanding about “The Scholars”.The fourth part focuses on the text,The section one starts from historical background,it discusses the fracture of the Imperial Examination System in Yuan Dynasty and Under the influence the scholars especially The Han scholars is depressive.the section two shows the imperial scholars group portrait,which conclude BaGuShi,JiaMingShi,ZhenRuMingXian and QiShi.The section three combined with text detailedly discusses the strict regulation and existing shortcomings of the imperial examination of Ming and Qing Dynasty.It helps to us understand the imperial examination activities or phenomena of “the Scholars”.The section four illustrates the shcolars' s false style of study and the cheating on exams.The section five discusses the common mentality,which on the one hand is ecstasy after passing the text and sorrow about fail to pass,on the other hand is superstition,under the imperial examination.The fifth part,at first discusses the traditional culture of the scholar,and still focuses on the text,it shows the scholars' s present condition deviates from traditional culuture through the analysis about Dao Yu Shi,De Yu Wei,Yi Yu Li,Ming Yu Shi,and analyses the role of the Imperial Examination System.Conclusion: The Imperial Examination System as talent selection system,have had a impact on all aspects of the scholars.Wu Jingzi makes the harsh criticism of the Imperial Examination under the decadent feudal system By “The Scholars”.This paper's research is hoped to cause thinking and people try to build a more perfect talents selection system in today's society.
