Since Chinese movie was born,Costume film is one kind of movie that can never be ignored.It shows the magnificent history of china that let us to know more about Chinese history and know why are we here today.In the new century,"Crouching.Tiger,Hidden.Dragon" won the Oscar Award for best foreign film and won the top box office of the North American foreign language film in 2003."Hero" opened the North American market,opened the Chinese blockbuster curtain,and were on the top of the 2004 American foreign language film list.So,it can be said that the Chinese’s film which broke into Western markets is costume piece.Also,it’s an important type of Chinese mainstream film and commercial films.Costume film is the best way to show China national image and being understood by western society.It’s an important way for people to think about the national image.We usually say “we draw lessons from the history and analyze from the history”about Chinese culture.Although contemporary is very different from the ancient Chinese society,the same culture is the fundamental of the Chinese nation still.We can still get inspiration and wisdom from history.As the kind of film saying national,history and traditional culture,the function of it,the responsibility of showing the national image,the influence on national image spread are all worth studying.The costume film image of the country is using characters,costume film plot,costumes,props,scenes,traditional values and other elements to construct the history of social space.The audience can have their own thoughts of the characters,restatement of historical events,the social cognitive style,the spirit of times and the conclusion of traditional values.Through the elements showed by the national image,the relevant political tendency will be clear in the emotion of the character,fate,space,theme and style,and show a political Chinses image of the country.This makes the costume film image of the country and the political economic and military activities in direct observation and news reports scattered accumulation of national image,it is in a complete text space,with a series of historical prototype or historical facts to create characters based on the history of probability plot based on the historic return toform a "invisible" image of the country,the fate of the characters,the story of ups and through their films.There are three chapters of this article.The first chapter,rethink the development of costume film in the new century.After carefully study and analysis a large number of new century costume film,I refresh the common elements of the new century costume film that represent the national image: the characters,plot and scene,the values etc.Those lay the foundation for my following research.The second chapter,based on the before,analyze the history of the costume movie characters,restatement of historical events,historical scenes,the use of logic and the value.Those all shows the national image.The costume film image of the country to construct reality national image analysis,epic is a bridge between history and reality,the costume movie for the overall evaluation of national image construction.The third chapter,learn from the theory of communication,according to the national image in the media,to find the specific strategies of construction of national costume film images in the background to explore under globalization.Costume film is not only a communication activity,but also a cognitive process.The creation of those films need the creators to choose the ancient texts and integrate their experience.Secondly,choice the elements that can serve the text,summarize the integration,organization arrangement,then complete a story space.Third,selectively highlight some typical events and conflicts,ethical values,cognitive focus.Finally,the audiences to understand the characters,events and ideas by virtue of the information showed by costume film,and combining with the related historical and social information in the story,internalize the knowledge and experience,to form a more complete understanding.The first three steps are the steps required by the costume creators,and the last step is the audience.They were not only by the mass,but by the initiative of "media".On one hand,the costume film which use the national elements need to try best to meet the needs of the audience,and find the screen really needed image of the country.On the other hand,the costume film also need widely participate of the audience,rise some global proposition,let the audience participate in.So that the image of the country in the discussion of argument form a suture of the internal and external public differences between the positive image of the country.This shows that the creators and the audiences both need to build specific strategy.And this is the key of this article.Only by doing this can we put forward some constructive suggestions for the construction of the national image and the national image of the Chinese film in the future.
