The text of this translating practice is selected from Chapter 4-5 of the book The Agile City:Building Well-being and Wealth in an Era of Climate Change.Such kind of translation will show some examples for those who are studying how to develop our cities in the background of climate change.For a long period,the translating text-types are usually divided into expressive text,informative text and vocative text etc.However,this thesis will make a further study under the perspective of soft text and hard text.First,choosing translating materials and the general plan are to be introduced.Second,under the principle of Eugenen Nida's Functional Equivalence,the translator has finished the whole translating process.Third,based on the hard text,this thesis will discuss some typical examples and the related translating methods in detail.In conclusion,this thesis is paying main attention to lexical connotations,complex sentences and discourse analysis.Besides,this thesis is also expected to serve as a useful reference to translating similar texts.
