The Narrative Of Chinese Comedy Movies In The New Century

Throughout the current Chinese film industry,comedy films often occupy an important weight in either number or box office rankings.For the comedy films focusing on local culture and daily life,they create their own space in Chinese film market,by giving full play to communicating function between film media and audience,achieving a high degree of psychological agreement with local audience,therefore maintaining their own living space with unique charm.This paper takes narrative art of comedy films of China in the new century as its research object,conducts a narratological analysis of narrative content,narrative structure and narrative strategy,systematically cards narrative characteristics,and discusses aesthetic value of comedy films of Mainland China in the new century.This paper contains the following five parts:In the first part,above all,the author defines and classifies comedy films,by referring to authorized definition and combining his own understanding of most comedy films.Secondly,the author elaborates the development and summarizes the characteristics of comedy films of Mainland China since the 20th Century,which lays foundation for the following narrative analysis of comedy films.The second part analyzes narrative content of comedy films of Mainland China in the new century and elaborates respectively from narrative theme and role shaping.In the light of narrative theme,three themes are sorted out;while in the light of role shaping,elaboration focuses on grassroots,harlequins,and citizens.The third part mainly explores narrative structure of comedy films.To explore their narrative rhythm,this part makes a detailed analysis of the four structures based on specific films,namely conventional linear structure,parallel multi-clue structure,paragraph collage structure and dream-like psychological structure.The fourth part discusses narrative strategy of comedy films of Mainland China in the new century,including the three aspects:game-based narrative skills,comedy language and audience acceptance.In the fifth part,the paper points out current problems arising during creating comedy films,and highlights subject spirit construction,narrative logic manifestation and art purity holding,so that comedy films of Mainland China can stand firmly in the commercial tide,promote a healthy development and create more classic works.
