Abstract/Summary:
In contemporary Chinese, the study of conjunction “and” is still in the weak link. Compared with the study of adverb and preposition, the study of conjunction is not remarkable, what’s more, most of the study are focus on the ontology research. In the field of TCSOL(Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages), from the angle of error analyses, the study of conjunction acquired some results, but there are almost none of the paper analyze only one conjunction by country, therefore, this paper focus on the British and the American study the conjunction “and”, moreover, analyze the errors and the results and find the reason, finally use the results to serve the Chinese teachers and Chinese learners.There are five parts in this paper. The first part is introduction; mainly introduce the meaning and significance of this study and the latest research from home and abroad. The second part is about the ontology research of Chinese Conjunction “and”, from the aspects of semantic function, syntactic position and pragmatic. The third part is analyze the errors of the British and American overseas students from the dynamic corpus of BLCU(Beijing Language and Culture University). From that, this paper selects 85 errors of the British and American overseas students, and gets the results of error type: addition, omission, wrong alternation, collocation, structure, punctuation, logic, and the unbalance of the inner parts. Through a brief elaboration, this paper finds four reasons: negative transfer of native language, have less knowledge of the target language, over generalize of the target language, and the textbook and the teaching methods. The forth part is to offer some teaching strategies of how to teach Chinese conjunction “and” in order to help learners from Britain and America to avoid making errors. The last part is about the research results and innovation, what`s more, the insufficiency parts and the improvents.
