PurPose:Observe the effect of electroacupuncture at Zusanli,Neiguan and Guanyuan on changes of blood lipid in rabbits with atherosclerosis and the expression of SR-AI protein and m RNA in peritoneal macrophages,to provide a new basis for the against atherosclerosis mechanism of acupuncture.Material and method:Adaptive feed 26 healthy New Zealand rabbits for one weeks and randomly selected 7 as the blank group were fed standard diet,the other 19 rabbits were used as the modeling group were fed high fat diet.After 4 weeks of high fat feeding,make the balloon injury of the common carotid artery to the model group,and continue feed them with high fat diet for 4 weeks to establish AS model,select one rabbit randomly from each group to make pathological sections,and determine whether the model is successful through observe the pathology of the plaque by HE staining.Then divide the remaining 18 rabbits of the model group randomly into three groups: model group,western medicine group and electro acupuncture group,6 in the each group.Electroacupuncture the electroacupuncture group at Neiguan,Zusanli,Guan Yuanxue;give Atorvastatin Calcium Tablets to the western medicine group.After 4 weeks treatment,observe the pathological changes of arterial wall,detect contentof cholesterol(CHO),triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein(LDL),high density liporotein(HDL),the ex Pression of SR-A I m RNA in peritoneal macrophages of atherosclerotic rabbits is detected by RT-PCR technique,the expression of SR-A I protein in peritoneal macrophages of atherosclerotic rabbits is detected by Western-blot method.Results: 1 Compared with the blank group,the contents of CHO,TG and LDL of the model group,the electroacupuncture group and the western medicine group are higher,the difference is statistically significant(P <0.01),and the HDL content is decreased,the difference is statistically significant(P <0.01).There is no significant difference between the electro acupuncture group and the western medicine group(P> 0.05).2 Compared with the blank control group,the expression level of SR-AI protein in model group is increased,the difference is statistically significant(P <0.01);Compared with the model group,the expression level of SR-AI protein in electro-acupuncture group and the western medicine group are lower,the difference is statistically significant(P <0.01);there is no significant difference between the electro-acupuncture group and the western medicine group(P> 0.05).3 Compared with the blank control group,the ex Pression level of SR-AIm RNA in the model group is increased,the difference is statistically significantt(P <0.01);Compared with the model group,the expression level of SR-AIm RNA in the electro-acupuncture group and the western medicine group are lower,the difference is statistically significantt(P <0.01);there is no significant difference between the electro-acupuncture group and the western medicine group(P> 0.05).Conclusion: 1 Electroacupuncture at Neiguan,Guan Yuan and Zusanli can improve the atherosclerotic plaque and regulate blood lipid disorder in atherosclerotic rabbits.2 Electroacupuncture at Neiguan,Guan Yuan and Zusanli can inhibit the expression of SR-AI protein and m RNA in peritoneal macrophages of atherosclerotic rabbits,which may be another mechanism of acupuncture to prevent atherosclerosis.
