Shu-Shu, one of the ancient Chinese cultures, developed from Yin Yang, Five Elements, Eight divinatory symbols, and Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, was designed to foresee the result by analyzing people, timing and places, and further, to prevent disturbs. By the end of Tang Dynasty, Shu-Shu was standing for astronomy, calendar, Five Elements, divination, geomancer, and Physiognomy. After Tang Dynasty, Shu-Shu was standing for Five Elements, divination, geomancer, and Physiognomy. Meridian Flowing, based on Huangdi Nei j ing and Nan J ing and the theory of Yin Yang, Five Elements, Eight divinatory symbols, and Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches to puncture certain acupoints at certain timing of a day, is a system for acupuncture with its special theory and clinical effect, which allow to puncturing less acupoints with better medical effects. It's been a long-historical erudition. This dissertation is divided into three parts. The first part is a brief introduction of Shu-Shu, including its history of development, its importance in Chinese culture, and its combination with Meridian Flowing. The second part is a brief introduct ion of the relation of Me r id i an Flowing with Huangdi Nei j ing and Nan J ing. Furthermore, by explaining the naming of Meridian Flowing, it shows that the core concept of Meridian Flowing is Yin Yang and Five Elements; Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches are the means to understand and apply Meridian Flowing. Both are indispensible. The third part is the combination of Shu-Shu and Meridian Flowing. By introducing the concept of Yin Yang and Five Elements, it shows the close relation of Shu-Shu and Meridian Flowing. Further, it shows the alliance of Five Elements in Shu-Shu and the new appliance of the combination of Shu-Shu and Meridian Flowing. On the other hand, by introducing the meaning of the names of Five Acupoints, it shows the characteristic of Yang-Qi from Five Acupoints to body and the main theory and appliance of Meridian Flowing. In sum, under the theory of Shu-Shu, the ancient Chinese found that the human body operation is as regular with the celestial objects movements. Meridian Flowing was also summed up under the regularity. If studying under the theory of Shu-Shu, there would be more appliances of Meridian Flowing. The conclusion of the combination of Shu-Shu and Meridian Flowing is as following:1. the calculation of Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches2. the main theory and appliance of Meridian Flowing3. the clinical treatment of Meridian Flowing in Shu-Shu and wish to offer new direction of research on Meridian Flowing.
