Study On The Application Principle Of Stone In The Design Of Residence

As Louis I.Kahn said,"Material is more likely to reveal the existence of meaning than space,more ready to be decoded and illustrated.Its rich texture and colors are more liable to be felt and grasped by the human sense.When it comes to experience architecture,material has more direct meaning than space." Whether it's stylish modern architecture or exotic homestay design,material,uncompromisingly,plays a critical role.Whether it's the Pyramid in Egypt and Parthenon in Greece,or Wright's Fallingwater and Mies's Barcelona Pavilion,each stone building reveals historic charms and natural temperament which could be desirable.The emerging homestay over recent years has rushed into people's life silently,opening a relaxation window for exhausted and intense urbanites.As for stone with the same natural and intimate quality,we are looking forward to the sparks between them.That's why I tried to introduce stone,the traditional building material,into homestay design.Based on views such as meeting the travelling demands of tourists,three feature homestay cases were studied and analyzed to finally summarize the application principles of stone in homestay design,and further put them into practice to verify the research conclusions.The paper mainly studied the application principles of stone in homestay design,in which stone was defined as natural stone while homestay was categorized as rural homestay in terms of location.The outline of the paper is as follows:the first introduction chapter was given to the background,purpose,existing research,content,methods,meaning and framework of the research;the second chapter introduced and discussed stone-related concepts:traditional construction material,stone,stone buildings;the third chapter elaborated homestay by the three cases of Beijing Shanli Lohas,Zhejiang naked Retreats,and Taiwan Provence Rose Lodge in Ching Jing,analyzing the relevant research result in aspects of tourist motivation,rural tourist motivation and selecting principle of homestay,and putting forward the application principles of stone in homestay design:naturality,regionalism,spatiality,culture and spirituality;the fourth chapter illustrated the application principles of stone in homestay design and the specific implementation methods;the fifth chapter verified the application principles through the case analysis of Guojiazhuang Homestay Hotel regarding its specific design;the sixth chapter draws a conclusion to echo the research result.
