A saying goes like this,"baskets, small baskets, every family can weave any of them "in Linshu, which illustrates the popularity of willow weaving in the local area. In other words, willow weaving in Linshu is closely associated with the life of common people, and becomes an art in life through its blend with people’s life. What’s more, it becomes a symbol of a kind of culture due to its characteristics in materials, crafts as well as functions.The paper is aimed at studying the development, crafts and functional characteristics of Shandong Willow weaving. It illustrates the process of the willow weaving from raw materials to finished products and summarizes the present development together with its problems through investigations to the fields, factories and farmers’houses. And the paper tries to excavate the artistic features and aesthetic characteristics of willow weaving and explore its cultural connotations and spiritual values through access to theoretical data and previous research methodsThe modern design has an influence on the development of willow weaving. Nowadays, with their basic practical needs met, modern people are increasingly concerned about the quality and emotional appeal of their lives. Therefore, the rustic emotion for the traditional arts and crafts buried deep in the heart is awakened. In the paper, through the study of modern decoration style, I will illustrate the interaction between modern decoration design and willow weaving, excavate the potential of the willow weaving in decoration design and reproduce the artistic charm of willow weaving.
