A Study On The Decoration Techniques And Cultural Characteristics Of Shaman Elements In Manchu Costumes

The Manchu is one of the important ethnic minorities in the history of the development of the Chinese nation.The growth and changes of the Manchu are closely associated with the Shaman culture.A series of archeological discoveries and historical books confirmed that the Manchu was originated from the core area of Shaman culture and continued to grow rapidly.The relationship between Manchu and Shaman culture has gradually become intimate.At present,researchers worldwide have increasingly studied the Manchu and Shaman culture.The significant advancements and achievements in the form of books,seminars and exhibition halls have been made.Despite the above endeavors,the existing research studies mainly focus on the combination of Manchu folklore culture and Shaman sacrifice culture,while rarely focus on Manchu costumes and Shaman culture.Inspired by the diverse costume culture and traditional national culture,Manchu costLunes are exhibiting their unique cultural characteristics as carriers of national culture.Their decorative methods are also deeply influenced by Shaman elements.Field investigation method and historical document research method were employed in this study by using Manchu costume as research carrier.Firstly,the basic compositions of Manchu costumes and the corresponding costume styles were introduced.The cultural properties of Manchu costumes were further summarized.Meanwhile,the cultural form of Shaman,together with the folklore concepts,belief worship,and clothing culture in Shaman culture were highlighted,all of which laid an important theoretical foundation.Secondly,the effects of Shaman worship art,God costume,and color display art on the Manchu costume patterns,shapes,and colors were analyzed in order to explore the decorative arts in Manchu costumes.The existence form of Shaman elements in Manchu costumes was thoroughly discussed.Thirdly,the Shaman elements and worship art were selected as the typical representatives to further analyze the modeling and symbolic performance of Manchu costumes.Finally,the symbolic,aesthetic,and practical values of the Shaman elements in Manchu costumes are investigated and summarized to present a good reference for the contemporary costume art design.The cultural characteristics of Manchu costumes were studied by exploring the Manchu costume decoration methods under the influence of Shaman elements.This study not only reflects the era characteristics of Manchu costumes,but also promotes the development and recognition of Shaman culture.In addition,the current research work provides a valuable insight to the broad development of modern design art.For traditional culture,it is of paramount significance to discover its practical benefits in the modem society based on "taking the essence and removing its dross".The applications of traditional cultural wisdom play an important role for the modem clothing art design and the entire art design environment.This provides an important practical and theoretical basis for the harmonious,long-term,rapid and extensive development of design art,and expands the platform for the development of the future social design environment.
