The Study Of Traditional Food Safety Supervision In Yueqing City

In recent years, food safety incidents have frequently occurred in China. The safety issue of traditional food has particularly become the focus of the public. In the work of food safety supervision, the traditional food's supervision has been evidently marginalized due to the serious lack of government regulation. As a consequence, the food safety problem which caused by the lack of supervision in traditional food has become a new issue in food safety supervision. Meanwhile, the increasing attention paid to traditional culture, especially to intangible culture, has placed the government into a dilemma:more protection or more supervision for traditional food?Starting from the status quo of Yueqing's traditional food supervision, this paper focus on the safety supervision of traditional food in Yueqing. Based on field studies and learnt from the oversea advanced experience, this paper will explore approaches to enhance the government regulation of traditional food and to seek a balance between protection and supervision, thereby providing reference for the work of overall food safety supervision and the protection of traditional Chinese food culture.This paper consists of five parts. The first part introduces and evaluates the current research regarding traditional food safety home and abroad. The second part defines the relative definitions of traditional food, food safety and food safety supervision, and expounds the theory of asymmetric information, synergetic governance and seamless government. In the third part, this paper introduces and evaluates the current situation of traditional food safety, indicating there have been some limitations in its laws and standard systems, supervision mode and management mechanism, inspection system and public participation. The fourth part introduces and draws lessons from international experience on food safety supervision. The last part of this paper puts forwards countermeasures and suggestions for Yueqing's traditional food safety supervision:firstly, improve the regional management mechanism and standard system; secondly, set up a new type of system of food safety supervision; thirdly, speed up the construction of traditional food monitoring system; besides, promote the transparency of government information and create better public opinion environment, additionally, enhance the education and training system on traditional food supervision; lastly, develop the traditional food industry and improve the supervision effect.
