Research On The Impact Of Technological Diversification On Innovation Performance

With the rapid development of knowledge economy, the environment enterprise faces are full of uncertainty and risk. Diversification strategy based on technology and knowledge has been widely used in enterprise. However, an enterprise only relied on its own knowledge was unable to meet the needs of innovation, so more and more enterprises turn to cooperative innovation. Thus, the impact of internal and external technical knowledge integration mechanism for innovation has become a hot research among scholars. Academics have achieved fruitful results in terms of the relationship between technology diversification and innovation performance, external partners. However, previous studies lacked of comprehensive consideration of different types of innovation, and ignored the different regulation of technology proximity in the relationship between technology diversification and dual innovation when introduced of proximity perspective.Based on existing researches in the perspective of differences in technological trajectory, knowledge base and risk cost, we introduced dual innovation-exploration innovation and exploration innovation, and discussed the different effects of technology diversification on these two types of innovative respectively. In addition, we depth analyzed the different influences of the interaction between technology diversification and external partners on exploration innovation and exploration innovation. Finally, based on the study sample contains 210 Chinese Auto Companies Patent Application, we tested the relationship between technology diversification of Chinese Auto, technology proximity among cooperative enterprises and innovation performance used Two Random Effects Model.It shows that:(1) Technology diversification has a positive role in promotion innovation performance. What's more, the effects technology diversification on exploration innovation is more positive than exploration innovation. (2) The stronger of technology proximity among cooperative enterprises, the weaker of positive influence of technology diversification on exploration innovation. (3) The higher of technology proximity among cooperative enterprises, the stronger of positive influence of technology diversification on exploration innovation.
