Under the globalization of knowledge economy and the increasing complexity of technological innovation, the enterprises are facing greater uncertainties and risks in the competitive environment. Skills and knowledge for high-tech enterprises are far beyond the traditional scope of core competence. To cover the shortage of technical knowledge, enterprises have to cross the boundaries of the original search for technical knowledge. R&D alliances can effectively integrate technology, knowledge, information and other innovation resources between enterprises which has become an important carrier for enterprises collaborative innovation. Diversification technology, a corporate resource portfolio strategy has been widely used in the business operations. Broadening the scope of enterprise technology development in the relevant technology fields enables enterprises to achieve multi-technology integration, to prevent technology lock-in producing from over-reliance on existing technology and ultimately to make technological breakthroughs for new product.Based on technological innovation theory, resource-based theory, organizational learning theory, the author analyses the necessity of R&D alliance formation, the role of enterprise resources situation played in the technological innovation and the differentiated effects on innovation performance which come from different R&D alliances learning modes. Meanwhile, the paper proposes detailed domestic and international literature reviews on the influence of R&D alliances technology heterogeneity on innovation performance studies, enterprises diversified technology and technology diversification selection research impact studies, technical factors such as technology diversification influential factors studies. Then, the paper conducts a research framework of “R&D alliances technology heterogeneity-enterprise technology diversification". At the same time, on the analysis of the connotation, classification, existing form and presence of slack resources, the author divides it into two dimensions: unabsorbed slack resources and absorbed slack resources and finally defines them. On this basis, this paper introduced the slack resources to the research framework of "R&D alliances technology heterogeneity- Enterprise Technology diversification"and presents the research hypotheses and models. In 2003-2013, the author conducts a research on the 156 Chinese electronic information manufacturing listed enterprises, collects enterprises' annual reports, patent data, co-patent data to build cooperative R&D alliances between enterprises. The author finally gathers the manually retrieve data and features variable data from annual report on which the multiple regression models are build.The results show: First, R&D alliances' technology heterogeneity are in an inverted "U" shaped relationship with enterprises' diversified technology. Second, the unabsorbed slack resources positive impact enterprises' diversified technology. Third, the absorbed slack resources have a negative effect on enterprises' diversified technology. Fourth, the unabsorbed slack resources positive modetate the relationship between R&D alliances' technology heterogeneity and the enterprises' diversified technology which pose an inverted "U" shape; Fifth, the absorbed slack resources can't negative moderate the relationship between R&D alliances' technology heterogeneity and the enterprises' diversified technology which pose an inverted "U" shape.
