The Uses And Gratification Of Social Media Profile Photo

With the fast development and wide penetration of the social media,human activity space and interpersonal interaction gradually extend from the specific geographic space to the virtual network.At the same time,human communication mode and style of acting also change over.The physical body hidden in the screen back,so people communicating with each other by images,text,audio and so on.As the symbol of mask in the social media,profile photo occupies territory with the advantage of intuitive visual communication,and it also becomes the entry point of researching personal acting in the network because of the closely connection with the user psychology.The profile photo of social media gives user the possibility to show individual character,its characteristics collect intuitive,alternative,tabbed,masked and the meaning of culture collect symboled,emotion,construction.In order to understand the problem of social media users' motivation and gratification to use the profile photo of social media,and explore the user psychology behind the profile photo of social media,this article bases on the theory of uses and gratification,to research social media users' evaluation for profile photo by the method of empirical researching.This article is also studying social media users' intention,behavior,motivation and gratification,and researching their differences under the influence of demographics and social media usage,and analyzing their relationship to establish the model of profile photo of social media users' usage and gratification by hypothesis testing.On the base of the research conclusion of profile photo of social media users' usage and gratification,this article analyzing some communication phenomenon in the using of profile photo and researching users' psychology.
