The Wireless Communication(WC)is a commonly used technology nowadays in many applications across the multiple fields of production operations,military equipment,and scientific and technological explorations.It was remarkable that the diversity and complexity have been well recognized as the key features of current developed WC systems.Due to the single mode based design,the conventional version of WC instrumentations and devices might not be compatible enough with the requirements of multiple communication modes.Therefore,this study proposed the System-on-chip based hardware combing with configurable WC software to implement multiple communication modes.The main work and innovation of the thesis are as follows:First of all,this thesis analyzed the research status of universal wireless communication hardware—especially the basic architecture of SoC and the core advantages of wireless communication.Secondly,according to the typical requirement of wireless communication system,this thesis completed the design of general wireless communication hardware based on SoC.While designing the general hardware platform,this thesis analyzed the functions and performance constraints of the common platform,and accomplished the platform circuit architecture design and module design based on the design requirements of the mainstream wireless communication system.The platform used XC7Z045,a programmable SoC chip,to implement control and logic processing,and the AD9361 MRT(Agile Transceiver)is chosed to design the RF transceiver unit.The inter-board control,signal flow and the connection between each module was realized.Moreover,the design constraint of the layout of PCB(Printed Circuit Board)was fully considered.While designing the SoC system,this thesis finished the overall design of the on-chip system,including the detailed design of PS(Processing System),PL(Programmable Logic)and RF(Radio Frequency)unit.The logical control and data interaction pattern were fully designed,based on the overall architecture of SoC.In order to guarantee the efficient data interaction between the PS and PL,the DMA(Direct Memory Access)transmission mode with separated upstream and downstream was designed and implemented,and supported in a universal and portable manner.Considering the efficiency of data interactions between PS and RF,the RF unit data and control interface were designed based on the features of AD9361—ensuring the efficient communication between units of logic processing and RF,as well as implementing the RF transceiver functional control and RF core parameter control.The platform supported the protocols of network layer and application layer,software-defined MAC protocol,software-defined baseband signal processing,broadband transceiver RF unit.With the characteristics of flexibility and reconfigurability,the platform can support different protocols system and communication system.Finally,the software and hardware test environments were built,and the hardware circuit function and the on-chip system function of the platform were tested and analyzed respectively.Based on the IEEE 802.11 a experimental system,the basic wireless communication transceiver ability of the platform was verified.
