With the development of information technology,the field of graphical user interfaces has been continuously refined and upgraded.The handheld mobile device user interface(HUI)represented by smart phones will bring people into the era of “reading pictures”.The icon is the information narrator.However,it is not ideal of user's recognition through the pre-investigation of this article.Many interaction designers are excessively pursuing the appearance of personality and lead to inefficient user identification and frequent error operations.Therefore,it is of great significance to explore the factors of smart phone icon design to identify performance issues and to continuously improve the quality of human-computer interaction.Currently,there are many researches on the cognitive performance of GUI icons domestically and overseas,whereas the empirical research on the icon design factors aimed at the smart phone interface environment is relatively lacking.This defines the factors of smart phone interface icon design through the combing of literature,and selects three design factors like size,shape and internal features as the research variables of this paper.In order to ensure the objectivity and accuracy of the research,this paper identifies the dimensions,shape,and icons of different internal features by conducting research on the collection of authoritative mobile phone market report,questionnaires and the basis of actual research on the design and use of smart phone interface icons.The paper also designs the cognitive science experiments to explore the influence of the three research variables on the user recognition efficiency,and examines the cognitive performance rules under the interaction of various design factors.After the experiment was completed,the participants were assigned questionnaires and interviews to collect the emotional evaluation and preference information for different internal characteristics.The research results show that both the size of the icon and the shaping design factors have a significant impact on the user recognition efficiency and the interaction between the two factors is significant;The internal characteristics of the icon have a significant influence on the recognition efficiency,and the interaction between the “internal feature” and the “border shape”.Next,the recognition efficiency of the internal features of different icons in the presence or absence of the frame shape is different.This paper detailedly analyzes the impact of various factors on each other's interaction performance and interprets the conclusions of the research from the perspective of cognitive science and ranks or ranks the recognition performance in all interaction situations.In the survey of preferences,the statistic shows that graphic icons are more popular.This paper supplements the existing theory of icon recognition efficiency in smart phone interface and provides objective data reference and feasible suggestion for icon designing work.
