As an indispensable part of graphical user interface,icon is a functional symbol with high concentration,which could quickly convey information and facilitate memory.Icons may be similar because they are functionally related,or because they are semantically similar,or because they are used in similar situations.The similarity between the icons is too high,which is not conducive to the users to quickly and accurately distinguish the meanings conveyed by the icons,thus leading to users' misjudgment and misoperation.Study on cognitive similarity law of icons,aimed at reasonable improve icon differences to ensure the identification,accurate to help designers to build high recognizable icons to provide reference.Therefore,this research studies the similarity cognitive psychology of icons and the methods to measure the similarity degree of icons in order to serve the differentiated design of icons.First of all,this paper proposes a new method to study the cognitive psychology of icon similarity: analyze the visual feature factors of users' perception of similar icons,extract the visual feature elements that have a greater impact on the cognition of icon similarity,and define them as visual variables.Then,the classification experiment was used to explore the user grouping strategy.Then,the cognitive behavior experiment was used to study the priority of the consideration order of each component in the similarity judgment of users.Through the experiment,we find the influence of visual features of icons on users' similarity cognition.This research method solves the problem that it is difficult to classify and define the factors that affect the cognition of icon similarity in the past research,and provides a reference for the research on the cognitive psychology of icon similarity.Secondly,this paper designs a method that can quantitatively represent the similarity of icons,and tries the similarity representation method of the contours of icons in context,and the similarity representation of comparison adopts the Hungarian algorithm.After several groups of similar chart calculation control;It is found that the algorithm is more close to human cognition and is suitable for the representation of similar contour icons.The study also simulated and designed a variety of similar icons;According to the calculation results of these similar icons,it is found that this algorithm is suitable for the comparison of many similar icons,and can show the obvious differences among various types and degrees of icons.The realization of the algorithm in this design proves the feasibility of shape context in icon similarity representation.Finally,based on the research on the similarity cognition of icons in this paper,a design method to improve the difference degree of icons is proposed,that is,the difference of colors is simulated by combining the filling method,so as to improve the identification of icons.Taking the flight situation interface in the flight information service platform as an example,the paper optimized the icons of the original interface according to the proposed differentiated design method,and verified the effectiveness of the design method through the search task experiment.By analyzing the eye movement trajectory of the search task,it is found that the improved efficiency of the optimized icon search combined with different filling methods is related to the change of search strategy.The research of this topic is of great significance to the cognitive psychology of icon similarity and the research of icon design method.
