With the rapid development of communication technology,the antenna as an important part of communication,its requirement is increasing,with that comes a higher demand for antenna performance measurements,because it is directly related to the performance of communication equipment.At present,the test of antenna radiation performance is mostly in the outdoor or microwave chamber,but these environments are complex and expensive.Therefore,it will be one of the progressive directions for antenna measurement to obtain acceptable test precision if the test cost can be reduced as far as possible under limited conditions.In this paper,the research background of antenna measurement is introduced firstly.Then the near field measurement and comparison of the antenna are analyzed,and the near-field to far-field transformation is analyzed.Finally,we choose far-field measurement to measure the radiation performance of the antenna,using a single probe in scanning process.According to the analysis of actual demand,this paper designs an antenna testing platform which can be used in 1-18 GHz band and can be extended to 40 GHz,It includes sampling frame,rotating shaft,sending and receiving equipment.And,this paper analyzes the typical methods of radiation pattern and gain,as well as to test and verify the availability of the test platform,we measured a vivaldi antenna pattern and gain which workband is 6-18 GHz,and the results were compared with those measured in the microwave chamber,give the steps and precautions of the test.Finally,the test error of the radiation pattern and gain is analyzed and discussed,and the error source and correction are given.After comparison with others,this article mainly has the following advantages: first,in the process of the building of antenna test platform,because of its frequency range is wide,so in order to facilitate adjustment test distance and face-lifting,using aluminum structure building activity framework,the design for a portable disassembly test platform;Second,compared with other indoor far field tests,the cost is greatly reduced.Third,use the vector network to do the sending and receiving system,avoid the complex RF system,and the testing process is convenient and simple.
