The thesis named "The automatic measurement of small-size antenna parameters" is established in terms of meeting wireless administrant organization's need in building the antenna's information database of radio stations and the requirement of measuring antenna's parameters in the laboratory. The antenna's history and antenna measuring-technology are reviewed at first, and then foundational theory of plane antenna and the method of measuring antenna's parameters are also introduced in detail. Principle and realization about automatic measuring-system of small-size antenna's parameters are mainly interpreted. Meanwhile, the result is verified by measurement. The application of system is developed by VB&TC to find the answers to three questions: the first one is controlling of antenna platform's rotation to follow measuring requirement strictly; the second is how to deal with measuring signals and convert it to digital signals; the third is getting the antenna radiation pattern by digital signals and drawing the corresponding antenna pattern envelop, then the main standards of antenna are calculated according to the antenna pattern, such as main-lobe width and side lob level. In the curbstone measure department and experiment education, the measurement of antenna parameters is taken out by hand, which have the disadvantage of slow speed and low precision. Compared to traditional method, the precision and efficiency are improved greatly by the automatic measuring-system, so an efficient method of measuring small-size antenna is provided. The measurement error of antenna parameters on automatic measuring-system is discussed at last, and the factor influencing precision and the resolution are also analyzed.
